More than 800 Clarkstown South students in 11th and 12th grade will attend an assembly on the dangers of distracted driving on Monday morning.

The program will be led by New York State Trial Lawyers Association (NYSTLA) Michael Greenspan, a New York City resident who practices with Greenspan & Greenspan P.C. in White Plains.

April is National End Distracted Driving month, and the end distracted driving campaign was started after Pennsylvania trial lawyer Joel Feldman’s 22-year-old daughter was killed when a distracted driver crashed into her car in 2009. Other trial lawyers from around the country have joined the cause to educate more than 50,000 students since its inception.

The presentation includes a discussion on how distracted driving can be fatal, as well as interactive demonstrations with students, stories on victims of distracted driving crashes and lessons on how to prevent dangerous accidents.
