Royal blue = general steps. Tracks are color-coded. Click any title for details.
Both tracks involve conferring with the prosecutor and seeking a favorable outcome.
1. Traffic Stop
A traffic case begins when law enforcement stops a driver and investigates the alleged violation.
2. Ticket Issued (VTL)
The ticket lists the charge(s), the court information, and a deadline for your response.
3. Contact & Hire Us
We review your ticket, deadlines, and goals, then plan the best approach for your situation.
4. What You Need to Do
Step 1: Select “Not Guilty” and sign the plea section of the ticket.
Step 2: Mail the plea by certified mail to the Clerk listed on the ticket and provide us a copy.
5. Court Process Options
Depending on the court, your case may proceed as a Plea by Mail process or require an Appearance in Court.
6. File NOA & Waiver
We submit the waiver you signed and our Notice of Appearance to the court to begin representation.
7A-1. Plea by Mail Process
Some courts allow your case to be resolved entirely through written submissions, with no in-person court appearance required. All communication with the court and prosecutor happens via mail.
7B-1. Court Appearance Process
Other courts require your attorney to physically appear before the court. We appear on your behalf, confer with the prosecutor, and seek a favorable reduction or resolution.
8A-2. Request Plea by Mail
We request Plea by Mail, complete the required forms, and submit them to the court on your behalf. We then confer with the prosecutor in writing to seek a favorable resolution and reduced fine.
8B-2. Appearance / Conferences
We appear at pretrial conferences on your behalf and confer with the prosecution in person to seek a favorable reduction or resolution. Some cases require more than one appearance before the case is resolved.
9. Court Decision / Disposition
Regardless of the path taken, the case reaches a disposition where the court issues its ruling.
10. Compliance / Payment
You complete the final requirements: payment of any fines and completion of any conditions ordered by the court.
