How long do I have to file a personal injury claim in Rockland County?

For most personal injury cases against private parties in New York, you have three years from the date of the accident to file a lawsuit (CPLR §214). Wrongful death cases have a two-year deadline from the date of death. If a government entity was responsible (a county vehicle, a poorly maintained roadoad, a town sidewalk, or a school), you must file a Notice of Claim within 90 days of the accident.
